Fall and winter are probably my favorite season for cocktails. For one, I really get down with a cinnamon stick. But for two, they’re easily chuggable (in a classy way ofc). Apple cider + bourbon are an instant cocktail. Cranberry kompot + vodka + sugared cranberries, instant cocktail. They’re just so fun to make and easy to garnish. Nothing a sprig of rosemary and orange slice can’t fix.
But I know some of my queens don’t love hard liquor, or at least the pronounced taste of it. I mean, literally no one does I don’t know where I’m going with this. POINT IS - I made a spritzer. It’s refreshing, sweet and a very batchable drink to have as a welcome cocktail! Because no one has time to be shaking up 18 cocktails. I love starting guests off with something like this because:
it’s easy to make
it’s light and fizzy and everyone will probably like it
it’s a good segway and then people can move on to whatever they brought or want to drink for the rest of the night
it’s very cute
oh if your dinner is wine based - this is extra fun because you still get to have a fun cocktail moment before all the glasses of vino
So anyway, you can totally batch this in advance and have it chill in the fridge for a few hours - the flavors will have more time to meld together, and at that point the lines become blurred between this being a cocktail and a sangria, but really who cares. It’s a drink and it’s good.
spiced pear spritzer
makes 2 bevs
3 oz pear juice (apple juice or apple cider work in a pinch)
dash of cinnamon (1/4 tsp ish)
dash of cardamom (1/4 tsp ish)
juice of 1 lemon
1.5 oz St Germain
6 oz dry rosé, orange or white wine
3 sprigs of thyme
1/2 oz maple syrup (more if you like sweeter)
club soda to top
fresh pear slices + cinnamon stick to garnish
1. Add the cinnamon, cardamom, lemon juice and thyme in the bottom of a shaker. Muddle to release the thyme essence. Add the pear juice, wine, st germain and shake with ice. Taste for sweetness, add maple syrup. Shake once more.
2. Pour into a glass and top with club soda. Garnish with pear slice, thyme, and a cinnamon stick. Light up the end of the cinnamon if you’re feeling extraaaa ;)

Perfect! I was looking for a way to use the rose I have left from summer.
Wife says too many ingredients but I agree with you.
