Just because all men are liars (punxsutawney phil), it may still be snowing wherever you live and nyc just had an earthquake - doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy a nice margarita with the in-season kiwis stocking the shelves right now. I mean, if we don’t use them that would just be bad manners.
And maybe I’m just biased because I’m in a period of kiwi loving. I really just feel like it’s so underrated…..and when not eating it spooned out of it’s skin (the easiest way to eat it btw) it’s usually not used in many recipes. Or maybe those recipes just aren’t coming across my desk. Well, anyway, I’m making this recipe come across your desk because it’s refreshing, crisp, tangy, earthy, SPICY!! As the title reads, it’s really good.
I made this recipe using this cocktail shaker from stanley’s new collection at target and I don’t think I have ever gotten so many dm’s about a product. It’s a compact little shaker with a built in shaker, juicer and jigger. It LOCKS in so the top jigger part actually screws on and seals. Like it’s just an iconic on the go all in one shaker and I can’t stfu about it unfortunately. ***This entire newsletter feature is not sponsored, stanley didn’t ask for it, they don’t even know about it - I am just geeked over this revolutionary shaker and love me my stanley. I am the stereotype of girl with stanley cup clanking around everywhere she goes. It’s just something that I don’t care whether it’s trendy anymore - I’m locked in 4 life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay hydrated my girls. Even if it’s with this marg. Maybe drink some water too tho.
a really good kiwi cucumber margarita:
for 1 drink (but bffr and just double it)
2 oz tequila
1 oz triple sec
2 thick jalapeño slices
1/2 kiwi
3 mint leaves
1/2 oz lime juice
1.5 oz cucumber juice
1/5-1 oz agave (depending on your sweetness pref)
tajin + agave to rim the glass.
cucumber lime juice:
makes enough for about 2 margs
3 persian cucumbers, chopped
1 lime
pinch of salt
For the cucumber juice: add everything to a blender, blend until smooth, strain and voila.
For the marg: Add kiwi, mint leaves and jalapeno slices to the bottom of your shaker. Muddle until uniformly smushed.
Add the cucumber juice, lime juice, tequila, triple sec, and ice to the shaker and shake violently until criiiiisp. Adjust for more sweetness.
Rim your glass with tajin, fill with ice and pour up your marg. Garnish with a kiwi wheel, cucumber slice and a jungle of mint. You can also top up with a lil topo chico if you’re feeling bubbly.

question!! I noticed you wrote cucumber and lime juice separately in the recipe and then you also have the cucumber-lime juice recipe which has both the cucumber and lime, so I was wondering what the measurement would be for the cucumber lime juice as opposed to lime and cucumber juice separately…hoping that made sense 🫶🫶 thank u!!
